A flawless green lawn, plenty of super know-it-alls to provide help and advice and an attentive audience. What better place to fix your car than while it's on display at a top car show?
We're taking about the awesome display of on-the-fly automotive surgery put on at the Concorso Italiano over the weekend by Car and Driver's Aaron Robinson.
Robinson drove his 1970 Lamborghini Espada about 350 miles up from Los Angeles to Carmel, Calif., for the week of car events, but it just wasn't running right. The culprit: the six, count 'em, six Weber carburetors under the hood.
Automotive News West Coast editor Mark Rechtin, who also witnessed Robinson's demonstration, said he was able to yank out the faulty carburetors and replace them with a set brought up by a friend from Los Angeles in an impressive 28 minutes. When Drive On started hovering with others over the hood, Robinson had found another Lamborghini fancier who was helping him get the right pressure in each of the carbs.
All in all, it was a far more interesting experience than just walking around ogling beautiful cars.
